But what does he do in his "spare
time?" You sittin' down, now? You ain't gonna believe
it, but he sings Country and Western Music with a little
Englebert Humperdink thrown in just for fun. No, he ain't
got no big bus nor a band. He does his music 'thang with
karaoke and invitations to perform with bands at various
places from Scotland to new England. The Stagecoach Ballroom,
Fort Worth, Texas, featured him on a Saturday night awhile
back. He has also sung a little at several wedding receptions.
"The Country Doctor" likes singing country music songs
of the late 1950s baby-boomer teenage generation, as well
as the 1960s, 70s and later, in the original style and
tradition of Hank Willliams, Ernest Tubb, George Jones,
Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Carl Smith, Hank Thompson, Marty
Robbins, Ronnie Milsap, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings
and others.
Revisit the era that popularized the "honky-tonks"
that would evolve into the respectable establishments
we now enjoy. Dr. McCoy's authentic country boy background,
has led to his intense interest in the history and cultural
aspects of country music and his current performing efforts
of this unique Americana. Join him as this "country-boy-at-heart"
shucks his kilt, professor's cloak, puts on his blue jeans
and cowboy boots and tugs at your heartstrings with a
short medley of straight-from-the-heart, boot-scootin',
sawdust-movin', belt-buckle-rubbin' renditions of Texas
Honky Tonk Country Music. Turn up the volume and click
below for your selection if you'd like to hear him. Y'all
behave, now.
